With a little care and attention, your handcrafted item will age gracefully, developing character and lasting for generations.

🔪 Cutting Boards – Care Guidelines

What to Do:

  • Always wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a towel — then let it air-dry standing on its side.

  • Condition the board regularly with mineral oil or cutting board conditioner:

    • If board is used: after 2-3 uses and when board starts to dry up.

    • If board isn’t used: after every few uses or when it feels dry.

  • Apply oil to all sides and edges — not just one side — to prevent warping from uneven moisture levels.

  • Store the board flat with feet or upright on its edge in a cool, dimly lit place.

What to Avoid:

  • Do not soak in water

  • Never wash in the dishwasher, place in the oven or microwave, or use as a hot plate.

  • Do not use edible oils like olive and sunflower oil, only beeswax and/or mineral oil

  • Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid fading

  • Do not use chemicals.

  • Keep away from heat sources and areas with large temperature swings.

  • Never place hot items directly on the surface — always use protective pads or coasters.

  • Direct sunlight can alter color and finish — store in shaded areas when possible.

  • When wood appears dry, re-apply mineral oil.
